History

How It All Came To Be

The core of TJR was formed back in 2008 when three of us started studying game development at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. All of us knew each other well before that, so it was only natural that we formed a team. "Jolly Roger" also dates back to these times, though the story of how exactly it became the name on our banner is shrouded in mystery. We didn't waste time deciding that a game company of our own was the goal we wanted to pursue. We kept making small game projects as part of our studies and otherwise, and more old friends joined our ranks towards the end of our studies. Together we created our first five mobile games, released for Windows Phone from 2010 to 2012. The last couple of years before graduation were pretty busy as we also started doing outsourcing together with Kajak Games, but we also learned tons of things that have become vital later. After some graduation ceremonies in the beginning of 2013 it was time to set things in motion. The Bootcamp-program helped us a great deal with both the practical side of setting up a company and by giving us a change to start developing our most ambitious project yet, Interplanetary. Many new friends joined us with the project, and in the beginning of November 2013 we officially became a company.
